Udaipur is the capital of the district of Mewar in Rajasthan, India. In 1568, the Mughal emperor Akbar captured Chittorgarh, and Udai Singh was forced to flee and establish the city of Udaipur. Udaipur remained the capital of the state of Mewar, which became a princely state of British India in 1818. After India's independence in 1947, Mewar was integrated into the state of Rajasthan.

How to reach?

By Air

Udaipur is easily accessible from all major cities in the region. The Maharana Pratap International Airport, often known as Udaipur Airport or Dabok Airport, is located just 22 kilometres east of the city. Domestic airlines such as Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet fly from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

By Train

Udaipur Railway Station is situated on the Udaipur Road, approximately 3 kilometres from the city centre and around 20 kilometres from the airport. Trains run frequently between Udaipur and all-important cities such as Delhi, Chittorgarh, Mumbai, Agra, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. The magnificent Palace on Wheels may also take you to Udaipur.

By Bus

Convenient, inexpensive, and sometimes considerably faster than the railway, regular buses from the Udaipur Bus Stand connect Udaipur with all surrounding cities. Rajasthan Roadways, the area's primary public transportation provider, offers passengers Deluxe and AC coaches.
