Of Camels, Temples, and Melas

November-March: While the weather and festivities in Pushkar are active throughout the year, the best time to visit the holy city is between November and March. The weather is nice during this time of year, and the desert is much friendlier for day-long safaris.

July-October: Despite the fact that the town does not receive much rain, it has a different charm during this season. This is also the off-season in Pushkar, so there will be fewer tourists visiting the town during this time.

How to reach?

By Air

The closest airport to Pushkar is 140 kilometres away in Jaipur. The airport has regular flights to major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. When you arrive at the airport, you can take a cab to Pushkar. The trip from the airport to the city will take about 3 hours. You can either book a cab in advance or hire one from one of the taxi vendors outside the airport. Regular buses are also accessible from Jaipur to Pushkar.

By Train

You will have to take a train to Ajmer and then a 30-minute drive to Pushkar. The railway station in Ajmer is well-connected to major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhopal, and Bangalore. Once you arrive at the station, you can take a taxi or bus to Pushkar.

By Bus

Buses from Delhi to Ajmer and on to Pushkar, are easily accessible. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation operates deluxe and semi-deluxe buses (both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned) that connect Ajmer to nearby cities before transporting you to Pushkar for a very low fare.
