Situated on the banks of the mighty Beas river at an altitude of 1,851 metres, the ancient town of Naggar was the former capital of Kullu. This stunning Himalayan hamlet lies nestled between Kullu and Manali, the two most popular hill stations of Himachal Pradesh.

September-November: The months of September through November are typically ideal for visiting Naggar. This is the post-monsoon period which gives visitors a chance to appreciate the lush greenery that surrounds the town.

July-August: During monsoon, the atmosphere becomes misty, and Naggar appears to be a setting straight out of a fairytale.

December-February: The temperature drops in the winter and the entire area turns white with snow. The temperature may be difficult to bear for the average tourist, but if you are an explorer, the winters of Naggar will acquaint you with a distinct side of Himachal Pradesh.

By Air

The nearest airport to Naggar is the Kullu-Manali airport in Bhuntar, which is approximately 31.6 kilometres away. One could hire a cab / shared taxi or take a bus to Naggar from here.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Naggar is Manali Halt which is located at a distance of about 14.5 kilometres. Other railway stations and their distance from Mamakudi are Manali Halt Railway Station (14.5 kilometres), Joginder Nagar Railway Station (37.8 kilometres), and Chauntra Bhater Railway Station (41.1 kilometres).

By Bus

Naggar and Manali are 21 kilometres apart; one can take a government or private bus via Manali to Naggar. Manali is well connected to various cities in India via road, trains and flights such as Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
